Last few places up for grabs at children’s charity’s toughest cycling challenge yet

Children’s charity invites cycling enthusiasts to grab the last few places for one of its toughest bike challenges on Sunday 10 June in the Peak District.

Peak District 100 is Action Medical Research’s toughest cycling challenge and attracts keen and passionate cyclists from all over the country.

The ride sets out from the outskirts of Sheffield and takes cyclists on a challenging tour of the beautiful National Park.

Participants will chart some of the most demanding cycling terrain in England as they tackle numerous climbs and descents but be rewarded by stunning scenery and a fantastic sense of achievement.


Besides tackling climbs such as Mam Nick, the Cat & Fiddle and up the long climb of Froggatt, the route takes in Hope and Goyt Valleys, Macclesfield Forest and the Derbyshire Dales.

Peak District 100 offers a choice of a 100-mile or a shorter 100km route for those who would like to take it a bit easy.

Cycling enthusiasts can register now to secure their places for the event, which is supported by leading bike brand Trek.

Cyclists participating in the Peak District 100 will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children.

Action Medical Research is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2012 and since 1952 has spent more than £100 million on medical breakthroughs to help sick and disabled children. The charity is currently supporting work around meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, premature birth, and some very rare conditions that severely affect children.

As they cross the finish line they will feel an amazing sense of achievement: not only for completing the ride, but also in knowing that by taking part they will have helped us to make a real difference to sick babies and children.”

This event is part of the charity’s popular RIDE 100 series of one-day bike rides taking place across the UK. All include chip timing, food and water stations, lunch, marshals and mechanics.
